About the Artist

Dennis White — Amherstburg, Ontario

Dennis White has spent more than forty years learning to paint.

Long before he had the courage to take on commissioned work, his family and friends saw the artist in him. The encouragement paid off in 1991, when — after a little gentle persuasion — he agreed to paint a mural on the outside of a hangar at the Windsor Flying Club. He viewed it as a monumental task. The result impressed everyone who saw it, Dennis included. "I had no idea I could actually pull it off on that scale," he recalls. "That was just the beginning."

It was. In the years that followed, Dennis painted murals inside homes and businesses across the region — including a striking mural on the outside of a bank in Essex that drew attention from all over. With every wall, his confidence grew. "Fear did not evade me," he admits of the early years. "I missed many opportunities because I let self-doubt win. But the more murals I painted, the more confident I became." It's a hard-won lesson from a career built one brushstroke at a time.

In 2013, the work became a family affair. While struggling with a mural in his garage, Dennis stepped away for a drive to clear his head. He came back to find his son Dylan had picked up a brush and finished — perfectly — the very thing he'd been wrestling with. That moment marked the beginning of the Whites creating together, a father-and-son partnership that has shaped his work ever since.

Today, Dennis channels that same instinct into his canvas paintings. Working in acrylic, he paints the scenes that rise up when he listens to music — crowded, cinematic, deeply human moments inspired by the songs he loves. Each painting carries the rhythm of the music behind it, which is why he shares his work under the name @Rhythmofthepaints.
